Why run for District 73?

On March 29, 2018, I filed as a candidate for the South Carolina State House of Representatives District 73. During the previous year I was working on a motorcycle safety bill and wanted to setup a meeting with Representative Chris Hart of District 73. Over the course of the next several months I would leave a hand-signed letter at his office and even went by his place of business to drop off a letter with his office receptionist. I never received a call from him.

I did receive a call from a friend of mine at the state house telling me a representative by the name of Chris Hart was holding up every bill that was trying to be passed, and with only two days left before the session was over, you can imagine my surprise. I was working on a rooftop in Middleburg and cleaned up and rushed to the state house. I was there in 30 minutes and started sending in notes to representative Hart asking for him to please come out and talk with me. After waiting for over three hours I realized that he was not interested in talking to me and left.

On February 5, 2018, Governor Henry McMaster signed this very important bill into law, and to this day, I have not had a chance to meet with my representative, Chris Hart.

I have always been a person that feels if something is not working like it should, you shouldn’t complain if you can fix it. That is why I decided to run: because I feel everyone is important in our district and promise to meet with my constituents to help solve their issues if I am elected. That is what is expected of ALL of our elected officials.

Let’s move FORWARD, together.
